In this hands-on workshop, parents and caregivers will learn how to administer the CORE Phonics Survey, a simple assessment tool that helps identify their child’s foundational reading skills and areas for growth. Together, we’ll walk step by step through how to give the survey, interpret the results, and understand what the data reveals about your child’s literacy development.
From there, participants will learn how to design a literacy intevention program based on the Orton Gillingham multi-sensory appraoch which is a proven, evidence-based method that engages visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning pathways. This approach is especially powerful for children with dyslexia, ADHD, or other reading challenges, but it benefits all learners by making reading instruction structured, explicit, and engaging.
By the end of the session, parents will feel confident in:
Administering and scoring the CORE Phonics Survey
Using results to pinpoint specific skill gaps in phonics and decoding
Creating a targeted, multi-sensory intervention plan at home or in partnership with educators
Supporting their child’s reading growth with strategies that affirm both competence and confidence
✨ This workshop equips families with practical tools, compassionate guidance, and research-based methods to support their child’s literacy journey so every child can thrive as a reader.
